There's A Nap Store Open In New York City

New York City is now the home of a new nap store that promises customers a place to take a nap. And there’s more than one. The most recent, opened appropriately by the online mattress brand Casper, is called The Dreamery, where customers can spend $25 to rent out nooks for 45 minutes at a time.

The mattress industry has been booming lately, with companies making it easier and easier for customers to order products online, so it makes sense that, at some point, there would be something like this introduced into the $15 billion mattress space.

Casper’s retail store offers a very well rounded experience, with lockers, a private washroom, a lounge, essential sleep oils, meditations, pajamas, and, of course, a space that is essentially a big wooden soundproof “O” equipped with curtains and a Casper bed.

Currently, there are only nine rooms available, but if the store catches on they might need to add more. While they have been known for creative marketing stunts in the past, like dog beds and insomniac robots, they insist that this is a genuine attempt at creating a new kind of retail opportunity.

Neil Parikh, the COO, said in a statement: “The Dreamery is about making sleep and rest a part of our regular wellness routines — similar to how many people prioritize a workout class. The concept enables us to pilot new ways of bringing better sleep to more people and to more places — whether that’s here, the workplace, airports, or beyond.”

Casper has plans to expand this side of their business by opening nap stores on college campuses, corporate buildings and airports. They also hope that this will help boost sales of their actual mattresses, as well. Check out the video below for the full tour...
